My Little Drama Queen!

Good morning! I got to looking at my blog, wow have I been bag obsessed! So I decided today to stray away from the bag blogs!

Now what to write about??? Life has been very quiet here for us, we are the kind of folks that hibernate come winter, and winter it is. I am so tired of the cold and gray days, I am ready for sunshine glorious sunshine! We actually had three whole days of sunshine, now you may not believe this but this was the first real sun we have had since Christmas! I can not wait for spring! I know it is still months away!

We have been super busy with Morgen's play! She is so amazing, I would never have imaged that she would love drama so much. This is her second play that she has been involved with, the last one she did costuming, this one she has 5 small speaking roles, she was so excited to actually get to be on stage this time that I don't think she would have cared what part she got. Oh I forgot to say, she is in her school production of Bugsy Malone, I think her favorite roll is of the bad opera singer, she gets to sing horribly (not too much of a stretch for the folks in our house!) The play has really been a ton of fun, I have been helping with the costuming, altering and making costumes, I have to say I am glad I offered to help. Although I did not realize how big of a job I was signing on for, lets see there are 55 kids in the play, and all of them have at least two costumes, some have between 3-5! and almost all of them need altered in some form! I have already done 50 ish with another 30 costumes in my van just waiting for me! Now I know this sounds like a huge pity party, it isn't really, just I have 4 quilt tops I am dying to quilt and may never get the chance!

And then there is poor Stuart, my darling hubby, he says to me last night, I feel old. Why I ask?he says, because the kids are growing up....You see, Torrie turns 15 in less than a month, and I go this week to pay for her drivers ed class that she is required to take... so in less than two months my baby will be behind the wheel of a car. Crap now I feel old too!

With that, I think I will sign off, time go take a Geritol, and dye my hair! LOL
Have a great day

6 Picture Meme

I got Tagged!!! Millie at http://milliesquilting.blogspot.com/ tagged me the other day with a Six Picture Meme! I had never gotten tagged with this before so it took me by surprise. So this is what I was told to do, first, got to my pictures section, then the sixth file and the sixth picture, oh and tell the story behind the picture, well I have already told the story here.... http://ginnysquilts.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html (there are several posts relating to my dad, they tell the whole story)

I do love this quilt, it doesn't show as well here as it does on the top of my blog, it was kind of washed out by the sun. This quilt really was a labor of love and I think of my dad every time I see it. I had thought of doing another, but I am not sure I will, I am afraid it would make it not quite so special if I made another... so here it is my sixth picture meme, Dads quilt.

Now it is my turn to tag 6 people to play the game!

The rules are simple and here they are:Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

Here are my 6 people I like to tag to play along-

Rachel at http://2ndavenuestudio.blogspot.com/ Because I owe Dads quilt to her!

Karen at http://quiltsnkaboodle.blogspot.com/ She has a heart of pure gold! And she quilt like a goddess!!!

Susan at http://sunrisequiltstudio.blogspot.com/ Another quilting goddess! Check out her wedding dress quilt she quilted, then wipe your keyboard to get the drool off!

Megan at http://thebitchystitcher.blogspot.com/ I read her blog because she makes me laugh so hard I cry!

Monica at http://thehappyzombie.com/blog/ She has a amazing blog, well worth the read, oh and the coolest pictures!

Last but not least,

Tammy at http://deserthotflashes.blogspot.com/ She is super nice, and has a really cute puppy, and one of these days we will actually meet up LOL!

So, enjoy and I thank Millie for thinking of me, She truly is the sweetest person in blog land.

Have a great day!

More Bags Done, But Not Purses This Time!

What a fun day I had today! I am still on this bag kick! Yep still quilting, but I do love the almost instant gratification of the bags! Plus I have one of my daycare moms ask me to make her the "desk deli" it is another Penny Sturges pattern, it can be found here.... http://www.quiltsillustrated.com/index_files/Page2280.htm

It has been fun, I make three of these today! Check em out!!!

This is Kim's, she has an amazing eye for pattern and color, I love this fabric, I would not have imagined it when I saw it, but when I sewed the bag, oh my gosh, it is so very pretty! The pictures do not it justice!

This is another shot of this bag, the pattern comes with instructions for a matching napkin, that is what is sticking out the top.Morgen thought they were a neat idea and ask me to make her one since her lunch box is yucky! So she picked out her fabric, and now no one else as school will have as cool (or should I say hot) a lunch box as hers! LOL! This one was actually the first one I made, I just loved the fabric! I am not sure what I will do with this one, I work from home so don't really need something to pack a lunch in, Hmmm... maybe my next giveaway bag? Tell me what you think..... So that is it for now had a rather productive day and am thrilled at the finished products! I will not be making more for the rest of the week, I need to get in and start quilting the 4 quilts I have waiting to be done.

Have a great weekend, play hard.

RANT, Oh and Purse Reminder, Oh and next give away...

Good Morning, Yea it's Friday once again! What a week this turned out to be. I had this whole long post written up. A huge gripe actually, then deleted it. I am still going to gripe (bear with me a bit) but not as long or hard as I had written before... Shortened gripe follows.....

As many of you know I am a state licensed daycare, I usually love my job, unless that is I have a stubborn mom bring her very sick child after giving said child meds to hide the fact she is sick!!!

Fast forward, last Sunday, I got it and so did my other little one I have in care, we have both been horribly horribly sick all week, and the Mom of the child who gave it to us actually complained about my being sick!!!! GRRRR (that was a way shorter version trust me!)

So let me just say, as a day care provider, Please Please Please, it you have children, or grand children in daycare, Please Please Please treat your day care provider like gold! We work hard, are underpaid and under appreciated most of the time!
So give your provider a hug, and a special thank you for the awesome job they do. And what ever you do. If your child is sick, keep them home!!!

END OF RANT!!!!!!!

Now on to the FUN STUFF!!!!!!

There is less than one week till the big Purse Give Away!!! So if you have not done so get you name in now! I will be drawing the name out of the purse Thursday Jan. 22nd. At about 6:00 Pacific Standard Time!

I have also been thinking of what I want to do for my next give away, because, this has been a ton of fun! I am torn between another purse or something a little smaller, like a purse organizer... Oh and wait till you see what I will be giving away for my Birthday, Oh it is cool!!!! I will give a hint, it saves tons of money, and is a MUST for quilters!!!! Oh and it's made here in the good old US of A!!!!

Well that's if for now, off to the bank and pharmacy for me!
Have a wonderful weekend, I will post again soon as I have pictures to show of my latest quilt!

More Info on the Purses.

Hi all,
The other day I posted about the three purses I had made up to give to friends. Well, I had a couple of people leave comments about the purses, The number one question I get is where did I get the pattern? So this post is all about the pattern for these delightful purses,

I wish I could take credit for how cute they are, but alas, nope I purchased the pattern at our local Craft Warehouse store ( I have a funny story about a lady who followed me all over the fabric section checking out my purse, she ask me about it, I took her over and handed her one of the patterns! LOL) Any how, the pattern I use is called Mini Bow Tucks, it was made my Penny Sturges. Her web site is http://www.quiltsillustrated.com/ She has several different purses and bags on her site, there is also a larger version called Bow Tucks.

I cannot rave enough about this pattern, it is well written, easy to understand, very basic sewing. The first purse I did took me about 4 hours to do, mainly because I had never sewn a 3 dimensional object before so this was very new to me. I have been able to stream line it a bit as I do almost all of the fusing of the fleece and material right away instead of in steps, and then I just need to sew it all together.

There are only a few things that I do different on the purses that I make that are not in the original pattern, first, the front pocket, I like it divided, so I either put a seam in the middle to make two smaller pockets, or if ask by the recipient I do it in thirds, with a larger pocket for a larger phone and a small pencil pocket. (this is the outside pocket). I have also found in using my own purse that I do not like how long the button closure loop is it leaves the purse a bit too open on top, so I cut down the measurement, in the pattern it calls for a 6 1/2" inch cut for the loop, I shortened it two inches to 4 1/2" makes it a bit snugger. Other than those two things, wouldn't change a thing!

So check out Penny's site, or call you local quilting store and see if they carry her patterns, make a purse and show it off, and If you do make one, Let me know I would love to see a picture!
Happy Sewing, and have a great day

A shout out to Sheri!

Hello! And I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years!

This blog is really a shout out to my friend Sheri in Arizona. Hey Sheri! I got to sew this week! And boy did I get a lot done, did a purse for Wanda, Oh so PINK......
Did a purse for ME!!! Coffee!!!!

And did a purse for you! (Sheri!) This is yours, that is unless you like the coffee one better, then this one is mine and the coffee one is yours LOL! Let me know which one you like better and I will send it your way, on and Psst... I need you address too!

Here is a look at all three of the purses together! They are so much fun to make and now that I have done 7 of them they are getting super easy to do, I now know the shortcuts I can make to speed things up. Maybe I will make some to sell after all....
So that was it for my weekend, made purses, and started on a quilt for my neighbor who lost his wife recently. Have wanted to do something special for him for a while, then on my Quilt Talk yahoo group they did a New Years Eve Mystery quilt, it is wonderful, so I am using the pattern from that for Carl's quilt. Well, Stuart is calling, time to put away the last of the Christmas decorations. Have a great week, and I will post again soon.
